Sometimes it doesn’t matter how fashionable your tastes may be. For example, you might be great in matching your outfits or colour blocking; but your efforts will pale in comparison to dressing perfectly for your ‘body type.’ Therefore a great fashion stylist knows how to play around with the ‘type’ of clothes one has at its disposal, in order to fit any body type. A high-rise is a must have in every petite girls closet. Why? Because it gives the illusion of mile-long legs (which I have always longed for).
Wearing high waist skirts, shorts, trousers, etc. makes your lower body appear longer than it actually is. As per my body type, high-waisted bottoms lift me up and provide those extra few inches to my look, especially when I pair them up with heels.
Rules for wearing high-risers:
- Don’t carry extra baggage when you are rocking this look. The high waist will look young and fresh when you keep your problem areas sleek and fuss free without adding extra layers to your overall look.
- Avoid flats- wear heels instead! It works well with the sky-high illusion, which is given off with the high waisted bottoms
- If you are a C-cup or larger, avoid this look altogether. A full busted top with high waisted bottoms will make your look top heavy- which will detract any attention on the lower half of your body.
