New York State of Mind

In the words of Henry Ford – “Everything is possible… faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.  For me, the hope and dream was to return to the U.S. I knew it the second my family and I migrated back from L.A to Mumbai. To be perfectly honest, a substantive reason for joining NIFT was precisely due to NIFT’s association with the world class ‘Fashion Institute of Technology’ in NYC. FIT was offering NIFT students the chance to earn an associates program certificate in their third year. But in order to be privileged such an opportunity, one was required to excel in their field at NIFT, earning top marks and distinctions.

The chase was on! Remember everything is possible! As soon as I made up my mind that i’m headed to FIT, the water’s parted and the goal didn’t seem so elusive. Now I must admit, the thought of achieving a goal is only half the battle, one has to believe it and put it to practice in order for the dream to be fulfilled.

I’m proud to have achieved my dream. The portfolio I presented to FIT was a culmination of all the achievements I had attained. This included sleepless nights, a barrage of assignments, excruciating and precise finishings on assignments, and the chance to finish of my second year by standing top three in the class.

As I look out the window, all I see is clouds (literally i’m writing this post en route to NYC, 30,000 ft. in the sky). My flight will be landing at JFK in 45 minutes! I would like to leave this post on a high note. This is not to preach or to brag, but hopefully to inspire my fellow persons. Remember, “Everything is possible …faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” My evidence is right in front of me!

Moving on to the outfit post, you can see the white top I styled up in A Studded Affair with navy blue striped palazzo pants. Thankfully, the palazzo’s are not only comfortable but they contour elegantly with my frame. Finally, in order to add bling to the monotone outfit I wore a gold clutch with sequinned sandals along with some added arm candy. Stay tuned fans, I got a lot more posts coming at you from the big apple.
